Wild Card Hook Up

Noel,

I really like your idea of making some recordings tonight but so far nobody has advised that they shall be arriving early for it. I think it’s really a group activity and one that may need a quiet indoor location. Just letting you know fella. If you want to do it during the games that’s an option but obviously you may well have to fight with the football on screen to get peoples attention.

Rgds

Well I’m gonna go early to try and do something and as some are coming early for dinner hoping there’s a chance for add hoc filming while waiting for order - #1 need people to draw the re-sweep envelopes and load up a video to TFP before kick-off so people can see who they got and I also need people be proxy drawer for Wild Card Squares and then I’ll be busy updating the grids online (as well as my physical sheets) so sure that a be me busy to kick off!

Sweet - 1 question I have though is why when I saved and used same name as file I had do I still have both coming up - is Google docs not like a word programme where a file of same name overwrites the previous one?

Have you got an address for this place so I can work out how to get there on train as I text.

The links in the thread take you to the venues pages with those details on. But if you head to Piccadilly circus tube station and then look for 36 Rupert st. It’s in Piccadilly.

One happy dude

An hour on the choo choo and making it home as dawn breaks… Is this not what I did 25 years ago!?

I think so…

Thanks to all who made the effort and the journeys. I thought we were going to end up with 3 for the late game but the 6 that brunted the oncoming tiredness were rewarded with excellent seats at the empire casino for what turned out to be an amazing game of football between 2 old rivals.

I look forward to seeing you all again soon

I had a great time thanks for the invite trains started a little later than expected but well worth it and we got to check out 3 venues too as well as great people and great football

It was good to catch up again Mary.

Yeah I should of got the bus - tube was a night mare first one for me not to 7:05am after entering station at like 6:20am’ish - to go 1 stop, then at next station was 30m wait to first train from Green Park to London Bridge. Then there was no trains home everything was only going to East Croydon so I took that as there I thought would give me more chances of a quicker train home as more would go through there (ones from Vic as well as LB) but then I realised why no trains was listed for Merstham at LB - I had to go for a Rail Replacement Bus - no trains going further South than EC due to works on the line. So that took ages and when I finally got off at Merstham it decided to bucket down with rain half-way home while walking. So I got in about 9.45am soaked through and tired. Went to bed and alas only woke up when my mate came round for 6pm game tonight - so no time to get on Brads early game props - again! :frowning:

However I really enjoyed meeting the guys and watching games in company and well done Jon and seeing your teams play-off win - hopefully my Lions can do likewise next season.

i fared better by going back on myself to kingscross so home at 8.30 to be awoken by a deliveryman 2 hours later oh well it was worth it

That sounds like quite an ordeal Noel. Are there no trains that would go out to Gatwick? Then move from there? No idea just asking.

Good seeing everyone last night, even though Brian Hoyer was something of an epic disappointment. Still, did result in this snap…

Sorry fella - hope I kept the smugness within reasonable limits! And fingers crossed I wont have to wait another 20 years for the next playoff win…

Was brilliant to have a good sized group of us for the evening. Would be great to keep on doing a couple of these a season

That wasn’t the issue Gordon - would of been same for them as I think they was replacing a bridge after Purley or something so it was busses for any stations between East Croydon & Redhill - so they could work on lines in between - guess Sunday being lowest traffic day is why they doe these things then - I guess from when system slows down on a Saturday night around Midnight as doing that would give them from then to 5am Monday morning approximately to get major works done where by they need lines shut (no trains).

I agree, it was a really good catch up. Would be happy to attend more for sure. I do feel we miss out on the banter offered by the “Northerners” tho. Just for the record I would be more than willing to travel North a bit if those further up the country had a notion to get people together.

Thanks for the Champagne Jon, it was a nice touch!
