Something new and different for you to focus on: Make the kickoff exciting again. With the upcoming changes in the kickoff rules, I thought it would be fun to run a league that features and emphasizes kick and punt returns. The main rule: 1 point per 3 yards of kick/punt return. This will make the returners by far the most valuable players in the league. The idea is…you’re watching a game just waiting for a punt or kickoff…drumroll, please… this play may just get you 20 points…or not. The IDP flex is to accommodate the defensive players who also function as returners. My new league will be a 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 2Flex, 1IDPFlex, 1TE, 1K, 6bench, snake redraft. Now you can draft Covey, Turpin, Nixon, Mims and other studs of the special-teams world. We have also boosted the scoring for kickers, so they will also be very important. These rules reward consistency and distance (made kicks get 2/4/6/8/10 by distance; missed kicks lose -5/-4/-3/-2/-1 by distance). 13 regular weeks, 4 teams make playoffs. 2-week playoff rounds. $4 entrance fee to cover cost of the trophy ring (see picture for example).
