Help - need something solid

Hey all - I was taking a break from betting after getting killed on the Euros… yeah stupid here lost around 5K.

Any way one of the new sites I bet with during the Euro’s was 188BET and they had a promo of 10% back of all your net losses with them up to a max of £100. Well I lost £1,020 with them so have a £100 sitting there.

However all these bookies give with one hand and take with the other and so just went to check the T&C’s as had a bit of a 6th sense there’d be some strings attached and I was right - sneakily see it says in the T&C’s if you don’t use the stake up within 30 days of being credited they will remove it. I never noticed that before so rather than a refund I am beginning to think its more along the lines of a free bet so most likely wont even get the stake returned when I bet it on something. Maybe I’m wrong but either way I am now panicking as it must be nearly 30 days since Euros finished so I best use it up but hate being rushed.

The other sneaky t&c I noticed is this one:

  1. Any refund amount awarded is subject to 2 x rollover on sports markets only at minimum odds of 1.90 before any withdrawals will be authorised. Wagers on horseracing/casino/live casino will NOT be counted towards the rollover requirement.

So guessing I have till about 8th August to use or lose (as Euros concluded on 10th July).

So what I am asking is does anyone have any recommendations, tips or punt suggestion I could put this on that has a good chance to come in or offers what you pro’s consider good value odds?

I like Portsmouth’s chances in league 2 this season, and their season starts with a home game on August 6 against Carlisle. Odds for Portsmouth in that game are about 1.90 so that is a possible option for your free bet?

Cheers Jon - I hope you don’t mind but gonna be hoping your lower league knowledge and foreign football tips can help me get back to black by end of year - it’s looking like the size of the Alps the mess I got myself into in the Euros. :frowning:

For a min I thought you was suggesting I lump on Portsmouth to win League 2 - but you mean just to win first game. FYI I’ve no problem with long term bets.

SMALL STAKES ONLY ALERT

Noel (and anyone else reading!)
Couple of one sided games in Brazil this evening

Palmeiras are top of the league, in good form, and away at Botafogo (18th, relegation zone)
Gremio are in third place, solid but unspectacular form, and are away at America MG (rock bottom, lost last 7)

Palmeiras / Gremio double pays a little over 4/1 and is worth a stray tenner. A quick hunt around news sites suggests no injury problems, but to be fair my knowledge of Portuguese is touristy at best!

Well that was a crappy tip… neither one won!

Well I never see these till after so I was okay - though still need to stick that £100 on something sooner rather than later. Suppose I could of done Hammy in the F1 GP but didn’t - if I had done him instead of France in my treb a few weeks ago I would of been fine and not in such a hole.

@JonCartwright - I cant do Pompey as just looked and they is only 1.85 on 188BET so alas they do not qualify for the purposes of my free bet as has to be 1.90 or bigger.

So do you suggest Pompey to win that Division or perhaps something else?

If you can back Pompey at evens to go up I would take that. Backing them to win is riskier as they are definitely favourite but teams like Doncaster or Plymouth are dangers

I know a few Doncaster fans who have put upwards of £100 on them to win the league at odds around 10/1. Also one of them has also put £100 on a double promotion this season and next. Brave.

To be honest you’d have to take that with a pinch of salt as their heart is putting those bets on and not their head.

League 2 is always a trappy one I think. I have backed Portsmouth the last three seasons and been stung each time. Two bottom half finishes and a disappointing 6th last season. They are getting closer I must admit!

Pompey is evens on 188BET for promotion but I didn’t really wanna wait to next year for the outcome as wanted a win on this years figures as my target is to be even end of each year - and I’ve got myself in a huge ugly mess so I was wondering if you think Pompey will win first game is there another team that you think is almost sure to win first weekend of games and do it as a double and thus it would be over the 1.90 requirement I need odds wise?

edit: What about a Pompey / Doncaster both to win opening weekend double?

How about Leicester on their opening day - about 5/4 to win at Hull

Miami (+10.5) @ Seattle opening weekend.

Okay I would like to thank you all for your suggestions - I finally used it up tonight on a double:

Portsmouth @1.83 (Portsmouth v Carlisle United) 6/8/16
Leicester City @2.17 (Hull City v Leicester City) 13/8/16

So I am now hoping Pompey win this weekend and if they do then I’ll be most interested in seeing the Foxes open their account with a win a week later.

Agreed Dean - I liked Miami when they were about +8.5 earlier in the summer. With a bigger handicap and a few Seattle injury niggles so far in training camp, that one looks like a “lump on it!” sort of bet…

Browsing the scottish games in a quiet moment at work… surely Rangers, at home in their first game back in the top flight, will smash the living hell out of Hamilton Accies? Theyre a short price to do so, but a HT/FT or a 1 goal handicap would probably pay evens or more?

From a friend of mine north of the wall:

I’ve gone big on Rangers to beat Accies on the first game this weekend too at 2/5, and I’ve also had smaller bets on Rangers -1 and -2 too. I reckon Hamilton are going to take a proper pumping. They’re already relegation candidates, they’re away from home, they’re pish, and Rangers will be well up for their first game in the top flight. I’m amazed the odds are what they are. Nailed on for Rangers win for me.

Rangers bet is very interesting. How big are you guys going?

This sounds like a moment - should I lump on…

I put 100 quid @ just over evens on Rangers minus 1 goal
