2015 Live Drafts - Surrey

What’s wrong in drinking from a brown paper bag on the corner of a tattoo parlour

You don’t think I forgot do you lol

Not at all Sean
Loving the clips too keep em coming

Shani - date is last Sunday in August, its was changed from a Saturday because Jon is attending the Cup Final at Wembley, perhaps it will revert next season?

Nothing has been played so far, first online draft is first Sunday in August (£50 x 20 team auction).

Thanks Dean
I meant paid rather than played (typo!)

All info regards that Shani is on the live draft thread - dates and what have you - about payment, that is a good point so I will edit the confirmed list for both leagues on this thread now to make it so people get bolded when they have paid entry fee.

Official Live-Draft weekend thread: Introducing the UK NFL Live Pub Draft Weekend

As for plans I have booked a table in the Carvery for 12:30pm on the Saturday so anyone who’s there day 1 that wants to eat and chat together just needs to let me know and I’ll advise them of numbers - think that means you jump queue if busy as you booked a time for your party - usually its a turn up and wait sort of place - get in a queue sort of thing.

Saturday night I plan a mooch around the pubs in Redhill - no rush but there’s about half a dozen town centre pubs I know of all in easy enough walking distance so thought it a be nice to try them all and then go back to the one the group liked best - some may have bands or music DJ on a Saturday night - some won’t - but hopefully be good for group to chat. Also some will be open later on a Saturday night.

On the Sunday it’s TFP Originals Year II draft and after which I plan a curry night for those that confirm their in for that - I have not spoken to the restaurant yet or made a booking as thought I need more of an idea on numbers before speaking to them.

LM, I’m in for the curry and after curry banter!

Regarding me getting a room, Is 2319 train not late enough? No disrespect Noel, RH seemed like a good place but a sort of quiet place, I’m thinking Sunday night will be shutting standard times. Now if there just so happened to be a trip to a nearby late night bar, casino or strip bar I would be booking up my hotel room now?

Sean asked if we plan to revert back to the Saturday next year, My little opinion is that we should. I’m delighted that we moved to Sunday this year as it means we dont lose a valued league member but I think many of us get on well enough to share a really good night out post draft and a Saturday obviously caters for that much better than Sundays.

I agree with you geezer and I thought it was only this season that we moved it to Sunday. The ‘original gang’ should have the Saturday as draft day in the future - it does after all open up for more and better options with regards to the ‘after party’

Yeah this was a one off move and being a bank holiday Monday thought made Sunday an equal option. If both leagues prove a hit then it may be fair to rotate drafts so this year TFP Originals is the Sunday - so next year will be the Saturday and then back to Sunday so both groups get the better options for after draft high-jinx the Saturday night. In fact that seems fairest and who knows some of you may end up in both leagues like I and Drew our. My rules where anyone could go for any spaces in either league after July 1st - I did that originally to allow knew people to have a chance to get in new league first but alas TFP does not currently get the exposure NFLUK does so not sure enough people know of this league to have filled it but I have said it will run with a minimum of 8 participants with chance to expand in future seasons though with season so far away feel like my first one as more people start looking on Facebook groups and NFLUK we can all point them to TFP and my leagues thread and from that think it will snowball just as my Original one did last year. I may have judged the willingness of peeps to be in a big stakes league one wrongly as I am a gambler myself and thought the more effort involved in an IDP/Keeper League should have more reward and hard-core players so in effect the buy-in was more to facilitate that. Time will tell on this but 1 thing is for sure anyone joining it is not going to throw the towel in after paying that kind of entry fee - especially as being a keeper league everything counts towards the next season to weather fighting for a better draft spot or a weekly prize. Any way keep spreading the word guys - thanks for all your support.

Let next season take care of itself, it may even be feasible to go back to back on drafting on a Saturday as I’m guessing the £200 game will only have about 4 players in :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Sorry Noel - I’m only joking I hope, its more sucessful than I anticipate.

"night bar, casino or strip bar"
Can I vote Gordon as the event organiser for 2016 (we have all those in Leeds)

I would have joined up the £200 IDP league as I am drawn to the depth of IDP and PPR and I obviously enjoy competition but I’m going through the process of trying to buy a house right now so needed to be sensible and this year £300 on fantasy just seemed like a lot. Having had that recent win I re-considered but I refuse to go beyond two leagues as it would spread me too thinly in my opinion.

As for me being an organiser, I don’t mind as long as I have Noel’s local knowledge to lean on. I do feel that its worth doing something proper after the curry like finding a venue that is comfortable & entertaining and will cater for us into the small hours.

Definitely up for going someone after the curry, got a rare night out card so happy to use it as much as possible.

In reality I’m sure Noel is more than capable of leading us to a happening place where we can enjoy mens things and chat out the results of the draft until well into Monday morning. Its a league where a lot of good people get along great and most of us don’t see enough of each other so well worth making something of a night out of it.

Morning folks, I’ve just been spending some money:

£30 on a room at the Travelodge for the Sunday night. Bargain, thanks for pointing it out Dean! That means I am now confirmed for the full post draft curry shenanigans

£100 just sent to Noel by PayPal as my entry fee for this year’s league - I will be checking the original thread to see that my name gets turned to BOLD !

Is it really only 9 weeks today?! I’ve been slacking on my holidays - now I need to get cracking with mock drafts, depth charts and training camp videos!!

Well good to have you back officially in the league I for one am looking forward to seeing you at the draft and I’m already tasting that post draft curry…
