Cheltenham festival 2015 tips and chat

Yeh I actually saw his last race, it was a procession really. I understand that owners are tempted by the gold cup so hope you have nrnb…

Unfortunately not it’s one of the risks you take to try and get good prices, some work out and some don’t.

Sure, good luck it

Can we please change the min post length?

Just letting you guys know that PaddyPower are running the Money Back Specials again at Cheltenham this year, and announced there gonna refund all losers in the Arkle if Un De Sceaux wind and refund all losers if Douvan wins the Supreme novices, max refund is 50 quid

Although I think Un De Sceaux is pretty bulletproof, I have said I think L’Ami Serge will win the Supreme Novice, so will be having my 50 on him at Paddy Power, so I have insurance in case I’m wrong haha, will probably put some money e/w on SGT RECKLESS in the Arkle with paddy power, as I reckon he’s the biggest threat to Un De Sceaux

Also after this weekends racing really like BELTOR for the Triumph Hurdle on the last day, absolutely romped home ahead of BIVOUAC on Saturday, who PEACE AND CO the favourite for the triumph also beat the same horse by the same amount of lengths, but looked a little more stretched then BELTOR did to do so, and this was only BELTORs second race over hurdles so should still have plenty of improvement in him, he also won his first race and the second and third from that have gone on to win and post good ratings in the process

So yeah BELTOR in the triumph is priced at around 8/1 now, try to find a place offering NRNB on the race, cos there is a small chance he’ll skip it and wait for Aintree instead, but pretty sure he’ll run in the triumph

Good info George, keep it up fella. I’m really waiting for when I can gauge what the ground might be… maybe another week or so…

Was just reading back through this as I was bored at work, and seems there are about 5 or 6 of us who may be interested in going as a group next year, just trying to gauge what interest there would be in this, as I’ve always wanted to go, but don’t have friends who are into horses. So is that something you guys would be interested in for next year?

I’m in dude! Same as you, always wanted to go, never have

Yeah I’m in, I reckon Chelters with you lot would be a great day/night out.

I went to a Cheltenham Preview last night, it was quite insightful. I’ll try to remember what the main suggestions were and post them later. Ch4’s Jim McGrath’s main fancy was Nichols Canyon in the Neptune. He also advised laying Douval in the opener because the price was too low.

Triumph Hurdle NRNB
EW 1/4 1,2,3 Hargam 6/1
Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle NRNB
EW 1/4 1,2,3 Martello Tower 12/1
Ryanair Chase NRNB
EW 1/4 1,2,3 Ma Filleule 5/1

Coneygree in the RSA Chase on Tuesday is my own NAP @ 11/2 with William Hill, to be safe it is 9/2 with Boylseports - just in case they decide to run him in the Gold Cup

Lots of us liking Coneygree then, especially now the rain is forecast. Tempting if you can get on at odds that support each way as Dean suggests.

Sorry Alan, I didn’t realise you had already tipped up Coneygree.
Gordon I think they will water the course to make sure it’s soft before the start of racing and the RSA is the second race on day two so it should be perfect going.

Can you send me an e-mail so I have your address, I’ll mail you a few thoughts (Alan/George please do likewise).

deanpoolealtofts@btinternet.com

my email is Georgeedwards1993@hotmail.co.uk or you can hit me up on facebook, always up for a chat about horses, I’ve heard they’ve started watering it already cos of a lack of rain, saying that the ground had gotten to ‘good’ likely to be good to soft on the first day, not sure beyond that.

As for NAPS rackon im changing mine from THE NEW ONE to SIRE DE GRUGY at 7/2, looked bang in form last time out a few weeks ago, and I don’t think SPRINTER SACRE will be upto it, and im not sold on DODGING BULLETS as a high class prospect. Still think TNO will win on the first day tho, so might have them in a double

And regarding Coneygree, if he goes for the RSA I’d back him to win it, but the Gold Cup will be beyond him, the last novice that was fancied for the gold cup, was also a front runner, and he faded turning for home, and fell 2 or 3 out, and was put down, so id be weary of history repeating itself tbh. Plus just reading that Mullins has chosen the RSA for Don Poli, that would be a very interesting race to see if Coneygree went for it too

Agreed on Dodging Bullets, he looked a world beater last year until Cheltenham and same again this season.

Coneygree could set the race up for Don Poli but I just dont think he would be caught in the RSA.

Mailed you a few pointers to your e-mail address. Shame we aren’t all meeting up next week, Cheltenham in the sunshine is paradise for gamblers

Man - I am not into the GG’s at all but I do want to win money and wish I’d seen this thread first but what’s done is done - my manager at work ex-gambler who used to love the GG’s tipped THE NEW ONE to me and so I was going to stick a tenner on but after using odds checker to find booker with best ante-post price once directed to Betfair then see an offer they have for Cheltenham that inspired me to max that up to £25 - just to win.

Knowing my luck you all best avoid that nag now but the offer I think is good so here it is guys (take advantage):

Online Sports Betting & Odds » Bet with Betfair™ Sportsbook

Noel - Betfair have a decent offer on, back a winner at 3-1+ on Tuesday and get 3 x free bets to same stake for rest of Festival. If you fancy TNO against Faugheen ‘the machine’ this is the bet for you

Will have to sort it for some of us to go as a group next year
